Forest Coach Lines has appointed Jock Murray as the Chairman of its Northern Sydney transport company.

Forest Coach Lines Managing Director David Royle says Murray joins the organisation with a wealth of experience in both government and the private sector.

"Mr Murray’s experience will be vital in helping Forest Coach Lines adapt to a demanding regulatory and commercial environment that increasingly requires a higher standard of corporate governance," Royle says.

In accepting the invitation to join the Forest board, Murray says he is looking forward to getting back into the passenger transport sector, especially as the new contracting regime appeares to be soundly based on inviting performance incentives.

Royle says the group is pleased to have the former Director General of the New South Wales Department of Transport joining their team.

"Mr Murray has been strategic in initiating a number of major infrastructure and technology projects, and was the Executive Director of Transport for the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

"Mr Murray has significant strategic, organisational and operational experience in the areas of transport and major infrastructure.

"He is an experienced company director, having been Non-Executive Chairman of The Hills Motorway Limited and Central Ranges Pipelines Pty Limited and a Non-Executive Director of Investa Properties Limited and Terminals Australia Pty Limited. He is a member of the Advisory Board of Hyder Consulting Australia.

"Mr Murray is a welcome addition to our board of Directors," Royle says.
