Bus service review for South Gippsland and Bass Coast

The Brumby Government is giving South Gippsland and Bass Coast communities another opportunity to contribute to its comprehensive review of bus services in the region by holding further consultation workshops in October.

The bus review is part of a $14.7 million Brumby Government package to boost the area’s transport services.

Acting Public Transport Minister Tim Pallas says the Government had listened to feedback from the community at the first round of workshops held in September, and the additional workshops would ensure everyone had a chance to have their say.

“The workshops will be held on weeknights in October, giving those community members who didn’t have a chance to attend the weekday and weekend workshops another opportunity to contribute,” Pallas says.

“I encourage residents and community members to attend and let us know the improvements they would like to see to create efficient public transport links in the area.

“The Brumby Government is taking action to boost regional public transport links and community consultation is a key part of this review and we want to hear from residents and stakeholders.”

Pallas says the Government has committed $14.7 million to improve bus and coach services for the South Gippsland and Bass Coast communities.

“Passengers in the region will have more services, more often,” he claims.

“In the past year, the Brumby Government has improved bus services in 20 regional centres.”

As part of the review community workshops will be held in the following areas:

  • Koo Wee Rup – Monday 13 October, 6-8pm
  • Leongatha – Tuesday 14 October, 6-8pm
  • Wonthaggi – Wednesday 15 October, 6-8pm
  • Yarram – Thursday 16 October, 6-8pm

People interested in attending the workshops are asked to call 1800 159 713 for further details and to RSVP. If you cannot attend a workshop, please write or email how you think bus services can be best improved.
