New Go Card fare structure late but welcomed

After months of being overcharged and penalised, commuters using the troubled Go Card will finally benefit from cheaper fares following the State Government’s announcement it will introduce a new discount fare structure.

Shadow Minister for Transport Tim Nicholls welcomed the State Government’s belated adoption of the Coalition’s policy by finally introducing a cheap, flexible fare structure to encourage more commuters to use the Go Card.

“The Government has finally acknowledged that it needs to take action and fix its botched roll-out of the Go Card,” he says.

“It is a shame the Government did not do its home work and Go Card commuters have had to pay the price for this Government’s incompetence.

“A competent Government would have had the fare structure worked out before the system was rolled-out. It has taken this Government more than five years to get it right.

“This is just another example of the Beattie-Bligh led Labor Government’s crisis ridden and reactive style to delivering services to Queenslanders.”
