Tassielink take delivery of two new models never built before!

Tassielink know what they want, when they want it, and how they want it to work and it can be a challenge for the suppliers.

John Usher from Tassielink wanted a low floor DDA compliant city bus that could travel from Hobart down the Huon and to the West Coast of Tasmania.

This trip is around 400km return through some pretty desolate country. These long distance trips require high capacity seating (53), under-floor thru bins for the entire luggage, and a spare wheel carrier in case of a flat tyre…all in a low floor bus.

This has not been achieved before in Australia, and not elsewhere in the world.

MAN and Custom Coaches teamed up together to meet the challenge. Tassielink chose the MAN 18.310 low floor Euro 4 chassis which is the 12 litre, 310hp, and 6 speed ZF version. The chassis was chosen for its smooth suspension, responsive engine and transmission.

We will have the full story in the May Bus+Coach.
