Hino is looking to celebrate an anniversary at this year's Expo
In 2022, Hino is marking its 80th anniversary as a global truck and bus brand. The company will use this year’s Australasian Bus & Coach Expo as a way to celebrate the milestone.
“Considering we’re celebrating 80 years in our global history this year, it’s so exciting to do so at the Expo,” Hino Australia Bus manager Sara Clark told ABC. “We’re looking forward to using the opportunity to reconnect with the industry after a COVID-enforced hiatus.
“It’ll be fantastic to once again see our customers and suppliers.”
Hino operates in more than 90 countries and regions, creating area-specific transport solutions for customers. With Australia being one of Hino’s major territories and success stories, Clark says celebrating 80 years of global experience is particularly special in Australia.
For more than 55 years Hino has provided quality buses to the Australian market, starting with its first vehicle sold in 1965. At the Expo this year, Hino’s prime display will be its Poncho bus, which Clark says has become increasingly popular with bus operators wanting to offer on-demand and flexible transport services.
“We are really excited about exhibiting the Poncho bus,” Clark says. “This is the first Poncho bus to go into a regional placement in New South Wales for an on-demand service.
“With the announcement that all seven of the NSW Government’s remaining on-demand pilot services in rural and regional areas of the state have been made permanent from July 1 this year, we expect the Poncho to be very popular with operators at the Expo,”
Before it provides communities with increased transport options and great service, it will be shown to the industry at the Expo.
“That’s all we can share right now,” Clark says. “If you want to see more, come and see us at the show.”
