Hino Australia veteran has a Field day at annual BIC awards

Bus and coach industry veteran Kevin Fielding recently took home a major award at BIC’s National Conference

Hino Australia bus stalwart Kevin Fielding has been awarded the prestigious Supplier of the Year Award at the Bus Industry Confederation’s (BIC) 2022 Australian Industry Awards earlier in November.

Fielding was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the Australian bus industry during his career that has spanned more than 50 years.

“The BIC Australian Industry Awards are an opportunity to recognise and reward excellence within the Australian bus and coach industry,” says Hino Australia manager of bus Sara Clark.

“There are many corporations in our industry that strive for excellence without compromise to deliver outstanding products and services to the Australian bus market, and it is only every second year that just five national awards are presented.

“I would like to congratulate Kevin on behalf of the team at Hino Australia.”

The award criteria includes continuous support for BIC and state associations, participation in association committees and working groups plus a minimum of 10 years involvement in the industry as a company or individual.

Fielding, who started his career as an apprentice heavy vehicle mechanic 56 years ago, was presented with his award by Queensland transport and main roads minister Mark Bailey, and BIC chair Tony Hopkins.

“To receive an award such as this from my peers is truly an honour – I am so fortunate to work in an industry that I love with people who are as passionate about it as I am,” Fielding says, who will celebrate his 25 year anniversary at Hino Australia next year.

Fielding has served as a BIC councillor and on a number of state association committees during his time at Hino.
