The Gold Coast division of Con-X-ion has added two 12.2m RoadBoss coaches to service airport and theme park transfers, recording increases in efficiency since the additions.
Con-X-ion General Manager Peter Thompson says the three 57 seat RoadBoss’ have proven to be the perfect to the fleet.
“The Higers have really come into their own, they have a low purchase price, they’ve been trouble-free and suit our application down to the ground,” he says.
“We are people movers, that’s the business we are in and we need to move people as quickly and efficiently as possible.”
Since switching to Higer, Con-X-ion has recorded a 90 percent reduction in fuel usage thanks to largely to the common rail, turbo intercooled Cummins engine combined with a six speed Allison and cruise control.
Thompson says the availability of parts along with the recognised drivetrain, Thermo King air conditioning and Meritor axles has made servicing the buses pain free.
“The key to the success is the international componentry,” he says.
“Parts availability is excellent, they’re driver friendly, easy to operate and customers find them comfortable.”
Thompson says Con-X-ion has had interest in the new Higers from school charters because of the three point seat belt in all 57 passenger seats.
“Schools now demand seat belts and we are able to deliver with our Higers, the seat belts are wonderful decision – we’re able to get more work and better work.”
Con-X-ion is in an expansion stage and looking at adding further Higers to the fleet – which now totals around 50 vehicles following the recent acquisition of another operator.
Higer buses are manufactured in China utilising world’s best technology and components, including Cummins engines, Allison and ZF transmissions, Meritor Axles and European designed chassis.
The company’s product line up starts at six metre buses and ranges up to full 18 metre vehicles catering to a variety of applications and specific requirements from high-end tourist coaches to high capacity city commuter route buses.
