Records are made to be broken, and HESS has the chance to become the talk of the upcoming National Bus and Coach Show when it debuts the lighTram® 25, the longest electric vehicle to grace Australian shores.

HESS has been a provider of eBus solutions around the world for well over a century, and says the Show is the perfect place to unveil the lighTram 25 in front of the country’s leading private and government bus operators.

“Launching the vehicle at the National Bus and Coach Show is an opportunity for the entire bus industry to experience the sheer space and capacity of the lighTram 25, plus catch a glimpse of vehicles travelling on the busways of Brisbane,” HESS regional manager Peter Dale told ABC.

“The lighTram 25 is well beyond the testing phase. It’s a proven solution that’s ready to be rolled out in other major cities.

“The lighTram 25 is an electric vehicle that offers the passenger capacity of a tram or light rail, with the manoeuvrability and flexibility associated with an articulated bus.”

With the decarbonisation of transportation and the increased effectiveness of public transport in the space set to take a key role in the industry’s future, HESS believes offerings like the lighTram 25 can help improve the perception of bus travel in major cities.

“In addition to electric bus fleets governments are now openly discussing bus rapid transit (BRT) as a flexible and cost-effective measure to move people quickly and efficiently,” Dale continues.

“We believe buses can take a lead role in a city’s transport network, and for good reason. BRT and bus travel is being seen as a step up, not a step down.”
