Sydney radio personality Ray Hadley tops the list of speakers at the Australian Bus + Coach Show conference

Sydney’s top rating radio host Ray Hadley, pictured, will be a guest speaker at the Australian Bus + Coach Show conference.
Hadley headlines a range of top drawer speakers at this year’s conference, mixed with representatives from government, industry, media and the world of sport.
ZF Services Australia has sponsored Hadley’s appearance at this year’s conference.
A spokesperson for the German automotive transmission maker says having Ray Hadley speaking at this year’s conference promises to provide some light entertainment, and hopefully not cause too much controversy.
Delegates are likely to get Hadley’s take on the world of football at a time when the Rugby World Cup is in full swing and the NRL Grand Final just played.
But of course, with Ray Hadley behind the microphone it could get a touch ‘political’ – but no less entertaining.
Hadley isn’t the only Australian celebrity at this year’s conference, with Winter Olympics Gold Medal winner Steven Bradbury taking to the podium on opening day.
Just like his ‘surprise’ win at Salt Lake City in 2002, Bradbury could have a surprise or two for delegates attending the pre-lunch session on Day One.
Bradbury’s presentation promises to be a show-stopper, but there will be a serious note to the wide-ranging conference program.
This year’s Australian Bus and Coach Show conference is being held at a time when public transport is a high priority for the NSW Government.
The program includes high profile government and private sector speakers presenting a wide range of important industry topics on contracts, asset procurement, accreditation, marketing, technology and tourism.
The Day One morning session opens with an address from BusNSW President Frank D’Appuzzo, followed by the NSW Government’s presentation of a ‘new era’ for public transport in the state.
BusNSW Executive Director Darryl Mellish will ‘take it to the streets’ with the Association’s response to current regulation, the contract system, and service support.
A broader nation-wide view of passenger transport will be presented by Bus Industry Confederation Executive Director Michael Apps.
Apps will present BIC’s Moving People Strategy and its response from Federal Government.
Also presented by BIC will be the Tourism Land Transport initiative, and an update on national projects including the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator, Workplace Health and Safety, and the modern award review.
The industry’s finest will be honoured at the gala dinner, presenting awards to Outstanding Contributor of the Year, Innovator of the Year and Supplier of the Year.
The second day of the conference is packed with action, and takes the panel approach to discussing technology options for the industry.
Buslines Group CEO Peter Ferris will chair the much anticipated “Tomorrow’s Technology – Transmissions, Engines and Fuels” session featuring panellists from Volvo, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, ZF, Caltex and a few special guests.
Institute of Transport and Logistics Studies Director David Hensher follows-up with his considered views on how best to make public transport attractive to the user, and the systems required to sustain its support.
Each session is sponsored by some of the industry’s biggest names, including Volgren, GT Transport and Automotive Insurance, Mobitec/Thoreb, Scania, Iveco, Custom, Mercedes-Benz, Heritage Finance, Pitcher Partners, and Thermo King Transit.
And it all kicks off with a delegate’s Welcoming Cocktail Party at Rydges Parramatta, sponsored by Volvo.
The Australian Bus + Coach Show will be held at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, Sydney, October 5-6.
