NSW bus and coach operators could be the beneficiaries of a portable above-ground diesel storage option just released

A new portable diesel fuel tank could soon be a frequent sight around bus and coach depots in NSW – and elsewhere, according to Advanced Fuel Tanks Australia Sales Director Russell Park.
Park says the company is optimistic about the new Vanguard iTank and its adoption in NSW with small to medium-sized bus and coach operators looking at new footprints for diesel fuel storage.
He says with stringent rules in place in that state related to underground fuel storage, the iTank would fit the requirement to go above ground.
The tanks are fitted with two diesel bowsers, with tank capacity at 26,000 to 88,000 litres.
“Bowers can be fitted inside the iTank, and can also be operated remotely via pipe work from the tank to bowers mounted in a fuel bay,” Park says.
“We see real benefits for the bus and coach industry contemplating updating their existing underground fuel storage systems in the near future.”
He says changing regulations are seeing more companies opting for the security and benefits of switching to above ground storage solutions.
Advance Fuel Tanks Managing Director Stephen Bank says the iTank is well suited to all types of industrial settings, including commercial and transport sites, and is ideal for use on mine sites in New Zealand and Australia.
“It offers easy delivery, with ISO mountings that fit side-lifter, container trucks, shipping and rail systems.”
Bain says transportability is an important feature.
“It can be placed quickly, put into operation quickly and can be moved around a mining site easily with cranes or side-lifters or whatever equipment is available,” he says.
“It is easily moveable or removable when you finish at that site.”
The iTank is doubled walled, ideal for storing diesel at mining sites, truck stops and bulk storage sites, or for petroleum stored outdoors in unpopulated areas.
Bain adds the unique rectangular design of the iTank means there are no water traps, with its gentle sloping roof allowing rain run-off.
“It has the features of a cylindrical tank, but is rectangular,” he says.
“We have full turnkey solutions available, with a choice of dispensing, payment and tank fill options.”
Park says the units are manufactured in Melbourne, and were launched onto the market in the last week of August.
“It’s a major release for us and already we are getting positive feedback from the transport industry,” he says.
