The Australian Open starts Monday, with free trams ready for Grand Slam action

Tennis fans and fanatics heading to and from Melbourne’s Australian Open from January 16 to 29 can catch free shuttle trams running frequently between Flinders Street and Melbourne Park.
The free shuttle trams display Route 70a and are available for all Australian Open ticket holders including patrons with ground passes.
Australian Open ticket holders can enter Melbourne Park directly from the tram platform stops at Rod Laver and Hi Sense arenas.
Melbourne Park gates open at 10am each morning with shuttle trams starting at 8.30am from Flinders Street.
The shuttle trams will continue to run from Melbourne Park back into the city up to one hour after the completion of play, no matter what time the action ends – including twilight and night sessions.
Passengers do not need a valid Metcard or Myki to travel on this free shuttle tram service, but they must hold
their Australian Open ticket valid for that day and present it to transport staff on request.
Passengers need to have a valid ticket for travel on trains, and other trams and buses.
Tennis fans can also catch normal Route 70 trams but are reminded that they need a valid Metcard or Myki to travel.
After midnight on Saturday and Sunday mornings, late night NightRider buses run every 30 minutes.
