Victorian seniors are being encouraged to explore, connect and celebrate this October, with the Victorian government offering eight days of free travel on public transport to coincide with the 43rd Victorian Seniors Festival.
From October 5-12, Seniors Card holders will enjoy free journeys on all forms of public transport, including trains, trams, buses and regional coach services. The initiative is designed to help older Victorians participate in more than 3,000 festival events across the state, ranging from concerts and film screenings to outdoor adventures and guided walks.

Victorian public transport minister Gabrielle Williams says the offer makes the festival more accessible than ever.
“With free trains, trams, bus and coach services, we are making it simple for Seniors to get on board and enjoy both the sights and festivities our state has to offer over the course of the Seniors Festival,” Williams says.
She adds that the benefits will continue beyond October.
“And from next year, free travel on weekends will mean Victorian Seniors Card holders can head out and about wherever they like at no cost,” she says.
Acting Victorian ageing minister Mary-Anne Thomas says the free travel will help older Victorians strengthen community ties.
“Eight days of free public transport make it easier than ever for older Victorians to get out, connect with others and make the most of everything the Victorian Seniors Festival has to offer this October,” Thomas says.
