Foton Mobility Distribution passes independent ESG audit on production facilities

The OEM brand will now conduct a widespread audit on its compliance each year after receiving its first review of its ESG protocols at its Chinese manufacturing facility

Foton Mobility Distribution (FMD) has responded to recent scrutiny around its Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) responsibilities with a recent independent review on its OEM production facilities.

The audit has seen FMD’s Chinese OEM production facility receive an ‘A’ rating, placing it among the top 10 per cent of all comparable facilities in mainland China.

The review on FMD’s vast interconnected supply chains and production facility saw the brand commission leading independent and internationally recognised third party LRQA to conduct an audit on one of its Chinese production facilities.

The site currently sees more than 600 employees produce zero-emissions commercial vehicles.

The on-site audit began early last month on an “unannounced” basis and, with a wide-ranging brief, gave the FMD team a detailed analysis of the management and workings of its manufacturing facility.

FMD has told ABC the LRQA audit covered areas such as labour, health and safety, environment, business ethics and management, each of which were given a rating and had any deductions made for violations ranging from minor to zero tolerance.

“The final audit report, now received, resulted in an ‘A’ rating for the facility, placing it among the top 10 per cent of all comparable facilities in mainland China,” FMD told ABC.

“While highlighting a few items for improvement, the overall report found no issues of consequence and provided strong evidence of the continually improving processes and procedures deployed within this facility.

“As a result of the success of the audit, and with “continuous improvement” in mind, FMD will now commission annual ESG audits in relation to this and similar facilities to ensure that it remains at the forefront of compliance.”
