Welcome to 2008, we hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Most aren’t settled into the year yet, but others would have got little to no time off.

Last year was truly a massive year for the Australian bus and coach industry, with most manufacturers recording record sales figures.

This year it will be interesting to see if these sales were a part of the predicted pre-ADR 80/02 buy-up or simply the beginning of an upward trend cycle for bus sales. We’ll have to wait tell next year to fully analyse the results.

It is interesting to see the growth of Hino and Bus and Coach International (BCI). The statistics suggests major growth for the two companies in 2008.

This is interesting because BCI manufactures it product in China. This year King Long Australia will join the market, and it will be interesting to see how long it will be before, if at all, bodies and chassis will be imported.

By the success of BCI it seems like a logical step, but for diplomacy and ease of entering the Australian market, they have done well in courting the already established suppliers.

We hope to engage you all this year and ask for more of you feedback on our stories so Bus+Coach can become even more interactive.
