Victorian operator Dysons has set a new standard for public transport across Australia, working with a telematics provider to build a unified, data driven platform for operations, analytics and electromobility.
Dysons Australia is undergoing a major digital transformation to modernise its fleet and operations, partnering with Consat Telematics to reduce its fleet technology vendors from 13 to six.
By partnering with Consat, the operator has moved from a fragmented technology landscape to a unified platform, setting a new benchmark for how public transportation can be managed and scaled.
When chief information officer Mark Brown joined Dysons, he quickly identified a core challenge: the company’s vehicle technology environment was highly fragmented. The fleet relied on 13 different technology vendors and more than 60 applications, with systems that were poorly integrated and data spread across disconnected platforms.
Rather than continuing to build on this complexity, Dysons sought to consolidate its technology and establish a scalable, future-proof digital platform to support operations.

Following a comprehensive evaluation process involving more than 20 vendors, Consat Telematics was selected as a core technology partner, standing out in both technical capability and data architecture.
“We may not have the biggest fleet, but we definitely have the best data,” Mark Brown says.
So far, driver training time has been reduced from up to 10 days to just two, enabled by improved navigation and driver support tools. At the same time, the solution has simplified vehicle architecture, reduced hardware complexity and lowered total cost of ownership over the lifecycle of the fleet.
Consat Telematics also plays a key role in Dysons’ long-term electromobility strategy. With a roadmap to introduce electric vehicles across the fleet, the platform supports EV monitoring, charging integration, and energy management at depot level.
“Making the necessary transformation in our business required us to partner with solution providers who make us more competitive in delivering outcomes of value to our clients,” Dysons managing director and CEO Andrew Jakab says.
