Victoria’s largest wholly Victorian-owned bus company Dyson Group has announced that construction is underway on its state-of-the-art electric bus regional hub in Shepparton.
The development marks a significant milestone for Dysons as it promises to introduce a range of opportunities and benefits to the local community.
The new Shepparton depot is set to become the largest regional bus facility in Victoria and underscores Dysons’ commitment to serving regional areas with cutting-edge services and infrastructure.
While the hub will bolster Dysons’ operational capabilities, Dysons depot manager Greg Fitzsimmons says it’ll also foster economic growth through new job opportunities in the region.
“We envision the Shepparton depot as our regional hub in north-east Victoria, designed for battery electric bus charging, equipped with a cutting-edge workshop featuring advanced facilities such as brake testing and a fully operational spray booth and panel shop,” Fitzsimmons says.
“This expansion will enable us to conduct major maintenance and repairs on our growing fleet of more than 300 regional buses locally, reducing the need for trips to Melbourne and creating employment opportunities for qualified local tradespeople.”
Dysons is taking a proactive approach to sustainability, by ensuring its latest buses meet the zero-emissions standard from July 1 next year onwards.
This commitment to electrification aligns with Dysons’ mission to lead the way in environmentally conscious transport solutions across its 700 bus fleet.
“In line with our commitment to generate social value beyond initial construction, we are exploring opportunities to work with local social enterprises and priority jobseekers as we continue to invest in Shepparton and regional Victoria,” Fitzsimmons says.
“We are proud to embark on this journey of growth and look forward to contributing positively to the Shepparton community.”
The new Shepparton depot is the sixth depot development Dysons has built in partnership with Dzine, an industry leader in full service bus depot construction.
