The Dyson Group recently paid tribute to one of its founding figures as he reached a special milestone
Victorian based bus and coach operator Dyson Group has paid tribute to one of the stalwarts of its business recently following a major milestone.
Over the recent King’s Birthday long weekend, Dysons celebrated the 90th birthday of Bill Dyson. Bill is the son of Laurie ‘Pop’ Dyson, the man that started Dysons.
Dysons says Bill worked alongside his dad in the very early days of the Dyson Group of Companies driving buses.
After 20 years behind the wheel, Bill moved up to take on the role of On Road Supervisor & Ticket Inspector. His office was on the road, checking passenger tickets and keeping a close eye on the drivers making sure they stuck to the timetables and company procedures.

“From all accounts, he ran a tight operation, with the drivers at the time creating their own code to warn each other that he was out on the routes so they could ensure they were on their best behaviour,” Dysons says in a LinkedIn post.

“Even in retirement, we are no stranger to seeing Bill’s face as he regularly pops into the office, particularly happy when it is the birthday of an employee, and he can help himself to a slice of cake,” Dysons says.
“Until his recent move to Mornington Peninsula, Bill was also a regular at Friday night drinks – where staff would update him on the latest Dyson news.
Bill is an admired and respected man by his family, by the community, and by all the staff at the Dyson Group of Companies. We would like to wish Bill a very Happy 90th Birthday.”
