The number of new bus and coach deliveries reported throughout Australia has increased hugely in December, exclusive ABC data reveals
Deliveries increased in December 2017 with 113 brand-new buses delivered throughout Australia.
This is a huge imporvement in comparison to November, during which 91 new bus deliveries were reported by manufacturers, representing an increase of 24.
The December delivery number stacks up well when compared to the 100 new buses delivered at the same time last year.
Scania had a strong month, its deliveries increasing from
20 in November to 46 in December. Volvo followed with 18,
which was down on last month’s 24.
Iveco and BCI had a strong month, reporting 13 and 11
deliveries respectively.
Most other manufacturers delivered less than 10 vehicles each.
The body builders posted very impressive results overall, with Volgren leading the pack on 34, that figure being up on the 30 reported in
November.
Custom Bus had super-strong results with 12; Bustech also with 12.
The majority of other builders delivered less than 11 vehicles respectively.
For air-conditioning suppliers, Thermo King led the pack
with 42 deliveries nationwide, a slight decrease on 49 the
month earlier, and still leading the market by a considerable margin. Kingtec was involved in the delivery of eight units, while Spheros posted six.
Victoria led the states on 36 per cent, followed by New
South Wales (33 per cent), Queensland (11 per cent), South Australia (11 per cent), and Western Australia (8 per cent).
