Bus delivery stats are strong in August with a record number of vehicles delivered beating all other months in 2017, exclusive ABC data reveals
Deliveries increased in August 2017 with 110 brand-new buses delivered throughout Australia.
This easily beats July, during which 100 new bus deliveries were reported by manufacturers, representing an increase of 10 vehicles.
The August delivery number stacks up very well compared to the 102 new buses delivered at the same time last year.
Volvo had a strong month, its deliveries increasing from 36 in July to 40 in August. Scania followed with 36, which was slightly down on last month’s 41.
Iveco also had a strong month, reporting nine deliveries. Most other manufacturers delivered less than six vehicles respectively, with BCI performing well with six deliveries reported.
The body builders posted promising results overall, with Volgren leading the pack on 47, that figure being well up on the 35 reported in July.
Custom Bus had a very strong showing with 21, well up from eight the month before. The majority of other builders delivered less than eight vehicles respectively.
For air-conditioning suppliers, Thermo King impressed with 68 deliveries nationwide, a big increase on the 51 a month earlier, and leading the market by a considerable margin.
Spheros had a strong showing and was involved in the delivery of 11 units.
Hispacold also had a good month with nine, just a slight drop on the 10 recorded in July.
New South Wales led the states on 36 per cent, followed by Victoria (20 per cent), Queensland (18 per cent), Western Australia (12 per cent), ACT and SA (both with 6 per cent) and NT on 2 per cent. See overleaf to read the comprehensive Australian bus delivery information for August.
