Custom Coaches launches lightweight CB80

New South Wales Transport Minister David Campbell was on hand at the Australian Bus + Coach Show 2009 in Sydney

New South Wales Transport Minister David Campbell was on hand at the Australian Bus + Coach Show 2009 in Sydney today to launch Custom Coaches’ latest offering, the CB80.

Custom Coaches says the new low floor city bus is its flagship model, featuring a lighter, stronger design.

The standard one door design can accommodate 53 seated passengers with extra leg room, with the standard two door design seating 49 passengers.

Custom Coaches says the CB80 includes the latest 3D modelling allowing a more accurate integrated body and chassis design.

Reduced weight and fibre tolerance allows Custom Coaches to use less steel but achieve the same strength, the company says.

External skirt panels are high resistant “pultruded” fibreglass that allow high impact without fracture, distortion or drooping.

New ducting material with “hinge-less design” on the CB80 provides access to the ducting area using a new pivoting system. The ducting, lights and stanchions are a fully integrated feature saving on weight and components, the company says.
