Currumbin Valley Bus and Coaches will wear foundation hats and hold a morning tea to raise funds for the important cause
Queensland operator Currumbin Valley Bus and Coaches has pledged its support for Do It for Dolly Day 2023, which will be held on Friday May 12.
Currumbin Valley Bus and Coaches will participate in the day by having all of its driver wear ‘Do It for Dolly’ hats and by hosting a staff morning tea to raise funds for Dolly’s Dream.
Dolly’s Dream is a foundation that was started by Kate and Tick Everett following the tragic loss of their daughter Dolly, who took her life at the age of 14 after experiencing relentless bullying.
The foundation’s goal is to prevent other families from experiencing the same tragedy by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide through education and direct support to young people and families.
In line with this vision, the owners of Currumbin Valley Bus and Coaches, Scott and Catherine Isaacs, are passionate about the wellbeing of youth in the South Gold Coast community and aim to spread awareness of Dolly’s Dream through their ongoing work with local schools.
“On Friday 12 May, we’ll be raising funds for Dolly’s Dream, a cause that is close to our hearts. As members of the Gold Coast community, we have a responsibility to do our part in creating a safer environment for young people. We are honoured to be able to support Dolly’s Dream in their mission to prevent bullying and youth suicide,” Catherine Isaacs says.
“We hope to communicate Dolly’s powerful message of ‘speak, even if your voice shakes’to the 400 children we work with each day.”
Despite Scott and Catherine’s previous Do It for Dolly’s Day efforts being hindered by the weather and COVID-19, the team is committed to promoting self-assurance and acceptance amongst child passengers, in hopes of preventing bullying.
Providing resources, support services and educational programs for schools, parents and young people, Dolly’s Dream includes workshops, kindness activities, advice columns, online products and free counselling services for those in rural and regional areas.
Through its initiatives, Dolly’s Dream aims to empower young people to stand up to bullying and to be kind, inclusive and resilient.
Dolly’s Dream founders Kate and Tick Everett say: “Every day, we strive to honour Dolly’s memory by working to prevent other families from experiencing the heartbreak that we have endured.”
“We believe that by promoting kindness, resilience and inclusivity, we can create a world where no child has to suffer in silence.”
