A canned Greyhound bus run has been reinstated in southern Queensland

A Greyhound bus service between Dalby and Toowoomba in southern Queensland was reinstated this week after it had been canned in early March.
Greyhound General Manager Sales Kevin Lyons says the GX491 service from Dalby via Toowoomba was initially suspended due to driver illness.
“We have received enormous amount of feedback from the community supporting the reintroduction of this service,” Lyons says.
“We’re happy to recommence the daily return service from Dalby via Toowoomba with connecting options through to Brisbane.
“We will gauge passenger numbers over the next three months to determine if the service remains viable.”
Dalby residents highlighted the importance of the Greyhound route in feedback to the company.
“This service has been extensively used by my daughter for over 30 years, travelling to and from Toowoomba where she resides at an Endeavour Residential Facility,” one resident wrote.
“It is also used regularly by university students, TAFE students and other boarders attending Toowoomba schools.
“Residents of Dalby also use this service to attend appointments with doctors and specialists.”
Another resident says the bus’s early departure from Dalby allowed workers to connect with flights leaving Brisbane airport.
“Many workers from overseas also use the service as they don’t have cars to get around,” the resident wrote.
The daily GX491 service departs Dalby at 7.30am and returns from Toowoomba at 4pm.
