The City of Coffs Harbour has announced it is set to roll out a free bus travel plan in the regional city that aims to bolster community connection and show the benefits of using public transport.
The trial will take place over four months and will see free bus travel on weekends between Bellingen and Macksville.
City of Coffs Harbour has also partnered with bus operators Forest Coach Lines and Busways to deliver the trial.
“It may encourage people sitting at home to become more active in the community,” Coffs Harbour mayor Paul Amos says.
“The trial will introduce people to the option of bus travel and potentially spark a habit of using public transport.”
The trial will commence from April 5 and run until July 28. City of Coffs Harbour says a three-month trial for free bus travel on Friday’s could also take place.
Busways and Forest Coach Lines will also provide daily statistics on the service effectiveness at the end of the trial.
