Police reportedly shoot gunman in Brisbane CBD: Queen Street Mall evacuated and city bus services cancelled

Police have reportedly shot a gunman who caused havoc in Brisbane’s CBD today, with Queen Street Mall completely evacuated and city bus services delayed and cancelled.

An ambulance arrived at the mall at lunch time today after police reportedly shot a man believed to be armed with a sawn-off shotgun.

Police declared an emergency situation under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in the Queen Street Mall in Brisbane City this morning.

The emergency situation was declared at 11.20am after police received reports of
the armed man, believed to be in his mid-20s.

The area was evacuated and motorists and pedestrians were advised to avoid the area, while Brisbane commuters were told to expect bus delays throughout the Brisbane CBD, with buses diverted during the siege.
