Canberra’s public bus network will operate under a revised timetable from Monday, February 2, 2026, with temporary changes introduced to manage the impacts of major construction works on Commonwealth Avenue Bridge.
The update coincides with the start of Term 1 and follows confirmation that construction on the Commonwealth Avenue Bridge Renewal project will begin on January 7. The National Capital Authority is delivering the project on behalf of the Australian government. It is expected to affect traffic, active travel routes and public transport during the construction period.

To maintain network reliability, Transport Canberra will introduce temporary adjustments to bus routes and timetables across both weekdays and weekends. There will be no changes to light rail frequencies.
Transport Canberra says the changes are designed to ensure services continue operating across the network while making the most efficient use of available resources. Where some routes experience reduced frequency, higher-capacity buses will be deployed to help move more passengers.
While some passengers may see altered routes or longer travel times, the changes are temporary and will be reviewed as construction progresses. Services will be monitored and refined to respond to demand, operational conditions and construction impacts.
Updated timetables for the revised bus network will be released in January 2026 and made available for download before the changes take effect.

Dedicated school bus services will continue to operate, with temporary adjustments affecting 51 schools. These changes include minor timing shifts and route refinements on dedicated school services and connecting local routes.
Students, parents and carers will be able to access updated school information packs in January 2026, ahead of the start of Term 1 on February 2.
