BusVic has responded to the zero-emissions bus rollout consultation paper released by the state government earlier this week
Following the Victorian government releasing a zero-emissions bus rollout consultation paper earlier in the week, the Bus Association of Victoria (BusVic) has had its say on the planned transition.
BusVic executive director Chris Lowe told ABC the consultation paper is helpful when it comes to scoping out the scale of the task of transition the state’s contracted fleet and detailing the complexities or variables associated with it.
Yet Lowe says much more detail is needed to help clearly plan for a zero-emissions bus future.
“There’s no detail around how the transition will ensue,” Lowe told ABC.
“What will operators need to transition to? When will they need to start and finish? Who will pay?”
Lowe says it’s incumbent upon industry to commend a plan to the government on how this transition should be done.
With the state government calling for input from the local bus community on how the transition should occur, BusVic is developing a submission that will describe how this should be approached.
