The BusNSW conference successfully ran this week in Wollongong, updating the bus and coach industry on the latest updates in the sector.
The first morning of the conference delved into the current NSW Bus Industry Taskforce, with members given the chance to provide feedback on how the updates are going.
The session, chaired by BusNSW executive director Matt Threlkeld, included taskforce chair John Lee, Darren Lane, Howard Collins and BusNSW president John King.
Following awards presentations, the afternoon session looked into innovative mobility solutions for regional areas and the role of buses courtesy of public transport chair Professor John Nelson before delving into rural and regional bus service contracts.
This session included Busways’ Byron Rowe, Sapphire Coast Buslines’ Jamie Klemm, Transport for NSW’s Holly Tylor and Nicole O’Neill.
Alongside discussions on the transport connected bus (TCB) program from an operational perspective and a finishing touch on critical incident management, the second day included special guest speaker Craig Rispin and NSW regional transport minister Jenny Aitchison.
Chain of responsibility then came into the view alongside safety compliance, while the last afternoon narrowed in on employee relations and fleet procurement and technology.
