Buses to replace trains in regional Victoria this weekend

The Victorian government says buses and coaches will replace services in Seymour and Shepparton this weekend

The state government has announced that changes to train services means buses and coaches will replace V/Line services through Seymour and Shepparton this weekend.

Starting from today, level crossing removal works in Glenroy and along the V/Line for maintenance means buses are replacing usual train services.

The changes begin this evening, with the 7.30PM from Seymour and the 9.30PM service from Southern Cross Station marking the start of coaches replacing trains.

Coaches and buses will continue to replace all trains between Southern Cross Station, Seymour and Shepparton until the last service on Monday July 25.

The Victorian government says these replacement coaches will vary between express and stopping-all-stations services.

The government estimates this will add an extra hour to the journey, with coaches not picking up or dropping off passengers at Essendon Station.

While these works occur, V/Line will also complete upgrades on the Seymour and Shepparton lines, such as improving signalling and completing general maintenance to keep the rail corridor ongoing.
