Deliveries remain stable in November

A handful of brands and the state of Victoria keep the market ticking over, exclusive ABC data reveals.

Deliveries remain stable in November
There's hope a new year will bring new sales optimism.

The Australian bus and coach market continues to limp towards the finish line, with 70 deliveries reported in November.

The final tally is one less than October and on par with the year’s low in August, though the one consolation is it remains hovering around the 70s and hasn’t dropped below that, with hopes for a more ‘normal’ summer and New Year after a turbulent 2020.

For the chassis makers, a solid month for Scania sees it jump month-on-month (MOM) from 17 to 32, its highest tally since June, to lead in November. Volvo also notes a small jump from 22 to 25. Together, the two Swedes combine for 57 of the month’s 70 deliveries, with the competition struggling to make inroads in November.

Volgren retains its grip at the top of the body building sector with 29 reported deliveries. That number is two less than last month, but still ahead of Irizar on 11, though the latter had a huge MOM increase from two in October. Australian Bus Corporation’s Precision Buses (6) and Bustech (4) brands combined for 10 deliveries in November.

Thermo King led the air-conditioning sector once more, though its tally eased from 40 in October to 32 in November. Hispacold followed on 17, with a strong gain on October’s seven deliveries.

Victoria led the way in the state chart with 42 per cent of the recorded deliveries; a huge percentage for the state just emerging from lockdown. NSW (17 per cent), Queensland (13 per cent), WA (11 per cent) and SA (10 per cent) all followed well behind.
