Deliveries make strong dash towards finish line

November was well above October’s numbers, exclusive ABC data reveals.

After a slight dip last month, bus and coach deliveries are finishing strong for the year, jumping back over the 120 mark in November.

The final tally of 122 highlights the majority of industry’s resilience as 2019 draws to a close, though this section officially farewells King Long for now after news of its local closure.

Elsewhere in the chassis table, Volvo and Scania led the way again, with the former consolidating its spot at the top with 52 for the month, up seven on October, while Scania remained the same on 39. No other chassis maker hit double figures.

The body builders table returned to the usual order with Volgren increasing from 34 to 46 month-on-month. Bustech had a strong November and was involved in 23 deliveries, with Irizar also on double figures. Thirteen others fought it out for the remainder of a crowded market.

Similarly for air-conditioners, Thermo King rose back above 50 to more than double next-best Spheros. The latter’s 25, however, was also an improvement on its previous month’s tally. Hispacold and Coachair followed on 13 and 12, respectively.

A close battle amongst the states saw NSW edge it out with 28 per cent, slightly above Victoria on 26 per cent and Queensland on 25 per cent. WA had 15 per cent, with Tasmania and SA taking a tiny slice of the pie.
