Delivery numbers keep reaching new heights

June’s figures provided a massive bump for the year, but July was even bigger, exclusive ABC data reveals.

June, which historically has tended to be the busiest month for bus and coach deliveries, has been surpassed in 2019 by July’s figures, with the final tally of 153 breaking the yearly record by two and marking a positive start to the new financial year.

On the chassis side, this increase was mainly driven by Volvo, which shattered its top tally by more than 20 to reach a total of 68 for the month. Scania posted a solid 38, while Yutong was another maker to record a year’s best with 27.

For the body builders, Volgren was also involved in a year’s best figure, passing half a century to reach 53. Yutong’s 27, matching its chassis count, was the highest monthly figure this year for any builder outside of Volgren. There was also a yearly high for Irizar, with the Spanish brand recording 18 deliveries.

The air-conditioning side was characterised by a strong showing from the chasing pack. While Thermo King on 40 again topped the charts, Yutong with 26, Spheros on 25, Hispacold on 22 and Valeo with 13 were also involved in monthly records.

NSW finally regained the biggest slice of the state pie, involved in the most deliveries (29 per cent), followed closely by Victoria (26 per cent). Queensland (21 per cent) and Western Australia (19 per cent) were also busy.
