Deliveries motor along in april

Another month, another similar return for bus and coach deliveries, exclusive ABC data reveals

Australian bus and coach deliveries continue along a solid road this year, with a figure of 108 almost identical to March – and maintaining an average number of 109 in 2019.

The Swedes continued to lead the chassis market, but Scania’s (24) and Volvo’s (22) tallies were both down 12 each on last month, highlighting a closeness in the market for April. Mercedes-Benz was third on 14, as seven more manufacturers followed on 10 or less.

Similarly for the body builders, Volgren led on 30, but was not as clear a standout as in previous months. BCI, Bustech and Irizar couldn’t be separated, all recorded 13 deliveries each. Again, seven more builders also had 10 or less.

For air-conditioners, market leader Thermo King also repeated its previous month’s tally of 47, maintaining its firm grip at the top. Denso (16), Hispacold (16) and Spheros (15) all closely fought it out for second place.

Once again Victoria was the busiest of the states, taking 31 per cent of the market. Queensland just pipped NSW by 1 per cent (26 to 25), while WA and SA took a smaller slice of the ‘cherry pie’.
