Deliveries maintain pace

A consistent trend is developing in 2019 for bus and coach deliveries, exclusive ABC data reveals.

A recurring theme is developing for bus and coach deliveries in 2019, with a figure of 109 in March consistent with the 112 and 108 deliveries recorded in February and January, respectively.

The Swedes led the way in March, with Scania (36) going neck-and-neck with Volvo (34), pipping the latter by two deliveries. Mercedes-Benz followed with 12, the only other to record double figures.

Volgren led the way for the body builders, but its number of 29 was 11 down on February’s tally. Bustech followed on 17, with BCI and Irizar also recording 10+ deliveries. Nine more body builders were involved in deliveries, highlighting the fierce competition in this sector.

The story for air-conditioners was much the same, with Thermo King a clear standout having recorded 47 deliveries. Hispacold (13), Spheros (12) and Coachair (11) formed a neat sequence, and six more brands featured thereafter.

Victoria was the busiest of the states by far in March, occupying 37 per cent of recorded deliveries. Queensland followed on 22 per cent, while NSW – which usually is the most prolific state – settled for third (21 per cent). There was also activity in WA, SA and Tasmania.
