Deliveries skyrocket

The number of new bus deliveries reported throughout Australia has increased hugely in October, exclusive ABC data reveals

 

Deliveries increased in October 2017 with 106 brand-new buses delivered throughout Australia.

This is a huge imporvement in comparison to September, during which just 53 new bus deliveries were reported by manufacturers, representing an increase of 53.

The October delivery number stacks up well when compared to the 97 new buses delivered at the same time last year.

Volvo had a strong month, its deliveries increasing from 18 in September to 35 in October. Scania followed with 25, which was well up on last month’s 20. Hino and MAN had a strong month, reporting 12 and 10 deliveries respectively. Most other manufacturers delivered less than six vehicles each.

The body builders posted very impressive results overall, with Volgren leading the pack on 31, that figure being well up on the 21 reported in September.

Custom Bus had super strong results with 17; Bustech also with 13. The majority of other builders delivered less than eight vehicles respectively.

For air-conditioning suppliers, Thermo King led the pack with 44 deliveries nationwide, a huge increase on 28 the month earlier, and still leading the market by a considerable margin.

Hispacold was involved in the delivery of seven units, while Coachair and Higer Air posted six each.

New South Wales led the states on 39 per cent, followed by Victoria (27 per cent), Queensland (15 per cent), Western Australia (15 per cent), and South Australia (4 per cent).
