WESTERN-SYDNEY-BASED Wales Bus Repairs has won the prestigious ‘Excellence in Small Business’ award at a gala event held at Sydney’s Rosehill Gardens Racecourse, officiated at by The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of New South Wales, and Luke Foley MP, Shadow Minister for Western Sydney and Leader of the Opposition, it’s reported recently.
On Friday 21 September, more than 700 of Western Sydney’s most influential business leaders and professionals flooded into the venue to attend the 28th annual Western Sydney Awards for Business Excellence (WSABE). More than 300 entries for various categories toughed it out, with Wales Bus Repairs claiming the highly sought-after ‘Excellence in Small Business’ award from an elite and highly contested field.
Wales was actually a finalist in two categories in the WSABE awards: Traditional Trade and Small Business.
“It is an honour to accept this prestigious award from the WSABE committee and in such a sought-after field,” said Wales Bus Repairs CEO, Darren Wales, on the night.
“To be even amongst the respected finalists is a wonderful achievement, but to actually win is something else.”
Wales added: “I would like to thank our unbelievable team for this award, with whom it would not be possible to be standing up here without their tireless efforts and dedication.”
“In particular, our manager, Sam Travoto, for his ever-expanding knowledge; workshop manager Luke Davis, for his tireless work ethic; and group general manager Rob Lanham, for being not only my right hand but my left as well.”
A SOLID REPUTATION
Wales Bus Repairs has been servicing the industry for more than five years and built a solid reputation as one of the most professional, quality-driven companies in the bus business with a focus on efficiency and getting their clients’ vehicles back on the road faster than anyone, it says.
Three years ago, Wales moved into a dedicated, purpose-built bus repair facility in Smithfield to service the New South Wales bus industry. The new facility houses three state-of-the-art drive-through spray baking ovens; Josam pulling systems; touch-screen computer stations around the workshop; parts division – all on a 20,000m2 site. It has been recognised as the largest, most up-to-date bus repair operation in Australia, it states.
Organisers of WSABE say they were proud to welcome back The Hon. Gladys Berejiklian, Premier of New South Wales, as its keynote speaker for the third consecutive year. It also extended its gratitude to Luke Foley MP, Shadow Minister for Western Sydney and Leader of the Opposition, for once again supporting the WSABE platform and speaking at the 2018 gala event.
