The Brisbane City Council has today released its new plan for the city’s bus network, with five new routes included amid changes to plenty of routes.
Brisbane lord mayor Adrian Schrinner says the changes will be the “biggest boost to Brisbane’s bus services in more than a decade”.
“Our city is growing fast and this is all about keeping Brisbane moving,” Schrinner says.
“We received more than 5000 responses during consultation on Brisbane’s bus network and we’re now closing the loop by announcing our new network.
“These changes will help us make the step change from public transport to mass transit and will start when the Brisbane Metro M1 route from Eight Mile Plains to Roma Street and the M2 route from UQ and RBWH are introduced.”

Following this passenger feedback, 12 routes have been redesigned to end at metro or busway stations, with the council saying that more than 85 per cent of trips will be aster or similar during peak periods.
With the new network allowing turn-up-and-go Brisbane Metro services arriving every five minutes, new routes will be introduced alongside extended all day services and improved service frequency in suburbs.
On top of these changes, 12 routes will be combined for greater efficiency, three routes will be removed and three divided to improve reliability.
The new routes include route 26 from Upper Mt Gravatt station to RBWH station, route P109 from Acacia Ridge to the city via Ipswich Road, route 127 from Indooroopilly to Fairfield Gardens Shopping Centre, route 182 from Upper Mt Gravatt station to Holland Park West station and route 197 from south Brisbane to the city.
When it comes to combining routes, route 108 will merge with 105, route 117 will combine with route 115, route 136 will merge with route 132, and route 178 will combine with route 177.
Other combinations include:
- Combining route P129 with 131
- Merging route P157 with 156
- Combining route P173 with 172
- Merging route P207 with P217
- Combining route P343 with 345.
The routes to be removed will be route 28, route 146 and route P151, with route 375, 379 and 470 all set to be divided.
