At the annual BIC conference, held this year in Adelaide, the national bus and coach body has announced the winners of two awards.
Held at the packed-out Adelaide Entertainment Centre, the gala dinner played host to the awards program, with well-known operators represented in the two awards.
The first gong handed out was the BIC Industry Achiever Award, which recognises individuals or teams that have excelled in the industry in the past year and was sponsored by Sura Bus & Coach.
In a strong field from a range of companies, Tyson Blisst from Calow’s Coaches won the award.
Blisst was promoted to operational supervisor at Tasmania’s Calow’s Coaches five years ago, which has since expanded to Hobart and allowed Blisst to become state operations manager.
“It’s a privilege to win this award and I’m pretty chuffed to be up here,” Blisst says.
The second award was the Safety Award, presented by the NHVR’s Sal Petroccitto.
In another strong field including Paul Davies from the Pulitano Group and Kinetic Specialised Resources, Red Bus Services took home the award.
“We thank BusNSW for the nomination. We started a program 20 years ago to educate the youngest passengers in pre-school kids on how to catch the bus properly,” the Red Bus team says.
“It’s been a successful move and we thank the industry for this award.”
