New CEO lobs in time for LDV launch and will oversee concerted Chinese commercial vehicles push into Australia
January 8, 2013
Commercial vehicles group WMC has brought in an experienced financier as CEO.
Neil Bamford takes the reins from Jason Pecotic, who remains a director and shareholder of the company and will continue to work within the WMC Group, the firm says.
WMC specialises in Chinese-made brands JAC Trucks, Higer Bus and LDV Vans.
While building on Higer’s Australian market growth and pushing JAC forward, Bamford’s immediate focus will be to put price heat into the already highly competitive vans and people movers sector.
“Jason Pecotic and his team have done a great job in taking WMC Group from a start-up position to where it is now, Australia’s leading importer of non-route buses, a strong presence in the light duty truck market and soon to be a key player in the commercial van market,” Bamford says.
“It is a remarkable effort considering it has been a little over five years since WMC’s inception and I look forward to continuing the work Jason has begun.
“Our first major challenge is the launch and introduction of the LDV range of commercial vans and people movers to the Australian market in late January.”
Bamford has worked for 25 years with leading finance and investment firms such as Allco Finance, Babcock and Brown, AMP and Société Générale.
He has also worked with BHP and spent four years with PricewaterhouseCoopers.
