December 4, 2012
After searching more than 450 commuters and arresting 45 people on the state’s public transport network, New South Wales police have concluded Operation Javelin II.
Starting on October 22, the operation was designed to minimise crime and ‘anti-social’ behaviour on the NSW public transport.
Over the course of the operation, police officers patrolled 139 buses, 1181 trains, and 11 ferries.
The police searched 465 people and arrested 45 people.
Police Transport Command Assistant Commissioner Max Mitchell says over the summer months police will conduct more operations to remove ‘anti-social’ and criminal behaviour from NSW trains, buses and ferries.
