APTIA now official

The Bus and Coach industry’s newest industrial association became official this week, giving employers a voice at the Fair Work table

January 18, 2011

Fair Work Australia approved registration of the Australian Public Transport Industrial Association (APTIA) on Monday as an organisation under the Fair Work Registered Organisations Act 2009.

Bus Industry Confederation Executive Director Michael Apps says public transport employers now have a national voice in Fair Work Australia and in the representation of their members on all industrial matters.

Inaugural APTIA Chairman Wayne Patch says registration gives effect the intentions of public transport employers to ensure that their businesses respond to the move towards federal regulation of their industries.

“APTIA will enable the industry to present national issues and to be a major contributor to the new industrial environment,” Patch says.

All members of APTIA have the opportunity of being members of BIC, who will provide the financial and management resources to APTIA.
