AFR says Ventura exploring sale options

More reports are emerging that the Victorian bus and coach operator is exploring potential sale options

Following recent discussions about the future of Victorian bus and coach operator Ventura, a recent report in the Australian Financial Review (AFR) suggests Ventura is exploring a sale.

The AFR says last week a sales flyer was put in front of prospective investors as part of a Goldman Sachs auction that is now underway.

The flyer says Ventura, as one of Australia’s biggest operators, makes $300 million of revenue and would be worth close to $1 billion.

The flyer from Goldman Sachs says Ventura is the largest operator in Victoria and has around 44 per cent of the Melbourne public bus market.

The AFR says first round bids are due in mid-August for the company.

This follows previous rumours about Ventura, with Ventura previously telling ABC in May that previous sales rumours are incorrect.

Instead, Ventura says the process is part of a broad-ranging strategic review of the business to assess the available options for the company.

“As you would expect, we regularly receive inbound interest in the Ventura business from third parties,” Ventura managing director Andrew Cornwall told ABC.

“To assist with this process, Ventura appointed Goldman Sachs.”
