Adelaide Metro is getting into the festive spirit, offering free travel across all buses, trains and trams from 6am to 2pm on Saturday November 8, to help families get to the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant.
The free travel initiative returns for 2025, making it easier for thousands of South Australians to enjoy the state’s most beloved annual event. It is the southern hemisphere’s largest public street parade, which drew more than 300,000 people last year.
Extra buses and trains will run throughout the morning to cater for the expected crowds, along with additional substitute buses operating along the Glenelg tram corridor during ongoing upgrade works.

Adelaide Metro spokesperson Michelle Spagnoletti says the free services are all about helping families experience the Pageant together without the hassle of driving or parking.
“Adelaide Metro is so pleased to provide free public transport to help children and families get to the city for the National Pharmacies Christmas Pageant,” Spagnoletti says.
“We’ll have additional services running on the day, so hop on board and leave the car at home.”
To keep everyone safe, several road closures and temporary bus stop changes will be in place across the CBD. Tram services will not operate along King William Street or the eastern section of North Terrace during the morning, as these areas form part of the parade route. Trams will continue to run between the Entertainment Centre and Adelaide Railway Station.

With hundreds of thousands expected to make the trip, Adelaide Metro says public transport remains the most convenient and festive way to get to the city.
