A suite of new SMC Corporation door kits to hit the Expo

SMC Corporation says it will be going further than its usual pneumatics and automation products at this year's Bus & Coach Expo

SMC Corporation is a well-known pneumatics and automation leader in the industry, but its offerings for the Expo go a step further.

The manufacturer of bus door solutions has been working hard behind the scenes to develop interesting technology. When visitors stop at SMC’s booth to see the New South Wales bus door, with safety technical specification TS155, it may be easy to miss the quad sensitive edge and dry glide bearing mechanisms that support it.

“We’ll be showing our fit-for-purpose doors,” SMC Corporation national sales manager for transport Darryl Wilson told ABC. “We are very proud of the bus door kits we design.

“The show is an opportunity for us to reinforce our commitment to Australian manufacturing and the local industry.”

The Australian made manufacturer has been supplying the nation’s bus operators for more than 30 years. At this year’s Expo, Wilson says the NSW bus door will be adorned with new technology in SMC’s dry-glide anti-rattle mechanism and a quad sensitive edge.

He says the anti-rattle guide provides simplified maintenance, improved performance and reduced operating noise, while the quad sensitive edge can register depression in all lateral directions to ensure all of its bus doors remain fully functioning.

The SMC national sales manager for transport says he wants visitors at the Expo to leave with an understanding of how the Australian manufacturer works to make new bus door technology. With cost, quality and after sales service all being key pillars of SMC’s operations, Wilson says the Expo is the ideal opportunity for the company to display its latest innovations in the sector.

“Customers who are looking for a custom solution or bus door kits they can roll out in mass should come to our stand and discuss their requirements,” Wilson says. “We have in-house engineering and local manufacturing, so SMC offers a very attractive solution to local customers.”
