Volvo sales up in 2015

Volvo Bus Australia declares 2015 a success in terms of new bus sales and industry accolades

Volvo Bus Australia sold more buses in 2015 than in 2014 and is bucking the trend despite a general market-wide decline in new bus sales.

Soft sales also increased and the team has been spurred-on by winning the Bus Industry Confederation (BIC) Supplier of the Year and Best Display awards at the 2015 Bus Association Victoria (BusVic) Maintenance Conference and Bus Expo.

“It is a fantastic achievement for the Volvo Bus team and CMV to be recognised by this great industry,” Volvo Bus Australia general manager Sean Copeland says.

“Volvo prides itself on continuous improvement with a strong customer focus.

“We will continue to challenge ourselves to do better in 2016 and continue to work closely with all our customers and the industry.”

In addition to Volvo’s wins, 2015 saw Volvo deliver its first Euro 6, B8RLE city bus to Latrobe Valley Bus Lines and the delivery of Volvo’s world first B8RLEA Euro 6 articulated bus to the Public Transport Authority (PTA) of Western Australia.

Another achievement was the build and delivery of Volvo Bus Australia’s first double deck, the B9TL, to Public Transport Victoria (PTV), which is currently being trialled as a solution to Melbourne’s busy roads.

The team has also seen many structural changes in the last year, with a new position being created for training and some personnel changes to existing positions.

This year, the focus will be on driver and technical training as well as the launch of Volvo Telematics.
