The introduction of a new online payroll tax system will reduce administrative costs and procedure for Victorian businesses, Victorian Treasurer John Brumby says. The new online payroll tax annual adjustments (eAA) system, accessed through the State Revenue Office (SRO) website, allows business to effectively and efficiently submit their payroll tax statement. "The new system will save 20,000 payroll tax customers and accountants valuable time when completing their 2001/02 reconciliations," Brumby says. "It is fast, accurate and secure and, above all, has been designed to be easy to use." The new system also allows for instant online submission of payroll tax information by customers and provides and immediate calculation of taxation liabilities or refunds. "Also of great benefit to customers is the ability to check information held on the SRO revenue management system and update changed details instantly," Brumby adds. "The ability to interact with the SRO online is of enormous benefit to those living in regional Victoria or in remote rural areas." The new system follows the launch of online land clearance certificates, or Section 97, in January 2002. For more information about eAA log onto the SRO's website or telephone 13 21 61.
