Almost all businesses are eligible to use the accounts method of completing the Business Activity Statement (BAS), which can halve the amount of time needed to complete the form, CPA Australia claims.
CPA Australia tax consultant David Boydell says the ATO has begun to widely publicise the simpler method after lobbying from professional organisations.
"In the case of the first BAS, only 55% of lodgers were aware they could use the simpler method and only 40% used it," Boydell says.
