The Tax Office (ATO) will early next year announce a new initiative to deliver personalised assistance at an industry-specific level for businesses struggling to come to grips with the new tax system. "Our assistance for the second quarterly BAS will focus on helping people with their business record keeping," Tax Commissioner Michael Carmody says. "We have received strong feedback from businesses that they would like this type of service. "This initiative will be offered alongside our continuing field officer advisory service, which is particularly popular in country areas. "Around 30,000 people have phoned back requesting a second visit to focus in greater detail on the BAS, following their initial visit on the tax changes in general (earlier in the year)."
