Skybus NZ innovates

Auckland Airport operator steps it up a notch with new store and CBD check-in service

New Zealand airport bus service operator SkyBus is set to open a state-of-the-art store in Auckland’s CBD, it announced recently.

The new store will open in next month and eventually include flight check-in facilities, allowing customers to relax knowing they can fulfil their pre-flight obligations before they arrive at the airport.

“Our new Queen Street store ‘SkyBus Airport Gateway’ is set to open early May, and is an extension of our commitment to transform the airport commute by integrating the airport experience for travellers into and from the Auckland CBD,” Skybus director Michael Sewards says.

“This shop will become our CBD hub for our airport services and will be staffed by our customer concierge providing the highest level of customer service.

“Ultimately, we want to create the most seamless airport commute for travellers, which is why we are working with airlines to introduce boarding pass and bag ticketing kiosks, and live flight information within a few months of opening the store.

Sewards is confident the introduction of convenient customer-oriented technology will help bring airport bus services into the future.

“SkyBus Auckland has experienced rapidly growing demand with monthly patronage growth averaging 15 per cent since its inception in October 2015,” Sewards says.

“We are committed to expanding our services to deliver faster, cheaper and innovative Auckland Airport transit solutions.”

Skybus has invested heavily in the Auckland Airport service since taking over what was formally known as Airbus Express late last year.
