Mildura TSV forum

TSV is inviting local operators who are yet to apply for accreditation to its forum in Mildura

Transport Safety Victoria (TSV) will host a safety and compliance forum in Mildura on May 28.

TSV is currently focused on educating drivers and operators and getting them up-to-speed on the need to become accredited prior to the December 31 deadline.

TSV director bus safety Stephen Turner says the forum will be an educational and engaging event for the local bus industry.

“There are 36 deemed accredited bus operators in the Mildura region who are yet to apply for accreditation,” he says.

“Local bus operators risk losing their business, and in some cases their livelihood, if they fail to apply for and become accredited before December 31.

“TSV’s bus safety branch managers will be discussing matters such as registration and accreditation, preparing for and undergoing safety audits and the organisation’s compliance program.”

Attendees will learn easy steps they can take and processes that can be put in place to minimise the risk of serious incidents occurring on one of their routes.

Real life emergencies faced by bus operators both here and internationally, will be discussed and attendees can learn how these incidents can easily occur, unless due diligence is applied.

“The attendees will also hear about the tragic 2005 bus fire in Texas and learn how they can reduce the risk of fire during their operations,” Turner says.

Advice for those enrolled in professional development courses will also be readily available from industry professionals who have excelled in these courses.

“We will also share some useful tips on how to successfully steer through the Monash University’s safety management course for bus operators,” Turner says.

The event will have a strong focus on bus operator accreditation and registration for the benefit of the local industry.

“The event will provide a great deal of information about the accreditation and registration process to assist bus industry participants.”

The event kicks off at 7pm on Thursday, May 28 at the Quality Hotel Mildura Grand.
