New station at Perth Stadium

Construction will start on the new Perth Stadium train station within the next few months

There are also plans to build a dedicated bus facility on the Burswood Peninsula, with the capacity to load up to 20 buses at a time.

West Australian Transport Minister Dean Nalder said Laing O’Rourke and AECOM won the tender for the $100 million project, as part of the $358 million transport solution for the new Perth Stadium.

“The station is a vital part of the new Perth Stadium project and will enable up to 28,000 passengers to depart the new stadium within an hour of an event,” he says.

The project will create more than 1800 jobs and should complete by late 2017, which will allow time for the infrastructure to be tested in the lead-up to the busy 2018 AFL season.

“When complete, Stadium Station will be the second largest station on Transperth’s network, with six platforms connected by two pedestrian concourses,” Nalder says.

“Each platform will have multiple passenger lifts for access by people with mobility issues.”

This contract will involve constructing the Stadium Station building, as well as significant rail works, including a storage facility for 117 railcars on the Burswood Peninsula.
